Meet Dr. Jon Frankel
Dr. Frankel was inspired by his father, an innovative man who grew up playing handball, tennis, and stickball on the streets of New York and moved to Toledo after completing his degree in dentistry from the Ohio State University after World War II. In 1992, upon graduation with a doctoral of dentistry science (DDS) also from the Ohio State University, Dr. Frankel joined his father in private practice, where his father continued to inspire him by instilling in him a passion for the latest technologies in the field. Today, Frankel Dentistry is one of the best dental practices in the Toledo area, offering the latest technology and advancements in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry as well as aesthetic dentistry.
While Dr. Frankel spends a majority of his time dedicating his life to his practice and the well-being of his patients, he is also a dedicated father and husband. During his weekends he enjoys spending time with his family. In fact, he takes much pride in his kids and his wife, Nikki, who is an ER nurse at Toledo Hospital.
When younger, Dr. Frankel was an excellent tennis player, achieving a Western Ranking for junior tennis. Although he still plays tennis, in his spare time, Dr. Frankel is an avid golfer who has a handicap of 8. He also enjoys supporting local based sporting teams including the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons; the Cleveland Browns; and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dr. Frankel is proud of his local, Toledo roots and thankful for the opportunities given to him by his father. Since taking over for his father over 20 years ago, Dr. Frankel and his staff have been dedicated to giving the people of the Toledo area customized care; a warm, friendly environment; and unique, unbelievable smiles that last a lifetime. These are all qualities and traditions started by his father and what continue to make Dr. Frankel and his practice one of Toledo's finest.
Meet Dr. Amber Puhl
When asked why she decided to study dentistry, Dr. Amber Puhl answers very simply, "There is nothing better than helping people in your community get a healthy smile."
Raised in Delta, Ohio, Dr. Puhl received her bachelors of science degree from the University of Dayton, majoring in biology. After graduating, she attended dental school at the Ohio State University and graduated in 2006.
While completing her degree, Dr. Puhl knew that it was important for her to return home, to Northwest Ohio, because her family as well as her husband's family was in the area. Before she graduated she came into contact with Dr. Frankel and was hired as an associate dentist.
Immediately, Dr. Puhl loved the philosophy of Dr. Frankel's practice. She looked up to him and admired the quality of care Frankel Dentistry provided for their patients. Therefore, in 2008 she decided to become a long-term partner with Dr. Frankel and bought into the practice, creating Frankel and Puhl Dentistry in Maumee.
Family has always been one of Dr. Puhl's priorities. In her spare time she is busy chasing around her young twins and spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoys running, and gardening.
However, at work, Dr. Puhl also considers her patients part of her extended family. The relaxed, comfortable feel of the office is sure to make any patient feel at home.
The Frankel Dentistry Team
Dr. Anmol Dhaliwal
It seems appropriate we celebrate the addition of Dr. Anmol Dhaliwal to Frankel & Puhl Dentistry. She was born and raised in Edmonton; Alberta known as Canada’s Festival City. Edmonton hosts over 50 festivals annually, so this means Dr. Dhaliwal knows nothing less than a good time.
Dr. Dhaliwal completed her undergrad at Concordia University with a major in chemistry and minor in psychology. She went on to pursue dentistry at the largest dental school in the US, NYU College of Dentistry. While at NYU she lived our core values of Always Better and Serve All. She was in the honors program and participated in the PSOT (Program for Survivors of Torture) which provided dental care to refugees and asylum seekers. This is the only program of its kind in the United States. Passionate about helping those in need she was changing lives a smile at a time long before she joined our practice.
Moving to Ohio to be with her significant other she was happy to find a dental home that mirrored her vocational aspirations. In her free time, you will find her traveling, cooking, and exploring new restaurants. Her most recent local favorites include Registry Bistro and Benchmark.
Dentistry is her passion and caring for her patients is her top priority.
Our Frankel and Puhl Dentistry team is grateful to have her on board Changing Lives a Smile at a Time.

There, he gained invaluable knowledge and practice in performing not only routine dental procedures, but numerous complex procedures which included placing implants, crown lengthening and overdentures. Dr. Greiss is passionate about what he does and is dedicated to providing patients with the best care, comfort, and confidence they deserve- one tooth at a time!
When not at the clinic or treating patients, Dr. Greiss enjoys staying active by engaging in soccer games and tournaments with his family and friends. His love for exploring new food and culture became the foundation for his love to travel. Having already visited 13 different countries and 20 states within the US – Spain, Italy, and New Zealand are up next on his bucket list of places to visit!
Dr. Philip Dietel
Dr. Dietel was born and raised in Chaska, Minnesota. If you have never heard of Chaska, you are not the only one. Hank Snow, a Canadian-American Country singer referred to Chaska in his song, “I have been everywhere.” Currently there are approximately 24,000 inhabitants. Chaska has a long past. Originally inhabited by Mound Builders and later the Dakota. The ancient mounds can be found today in the city square. Chaska refers to the first male born child in the language of the Dakota. More recently there are two native Chashassan actors in the movie Fargo. The doctors, health care providers, and staff at Frankel Dentistry are pleased to welcome their favorite Chaskan native son, Phillip Dietel, DMD.
At the young age of 15, Dr. Dietel knew he wanted to be a dentist. His college advisors suggested his pre-dental track. He received his Bachelor of Science in nutrition and food science from the University of Minnesota. (Yes, he is a great cook and baker. His carrot cake was the highlight of last year’s Thanksgiving Dinner.) After graduating Midwestern University Dental School in 2018, Dr. Dietel sought to further his training and completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Dietel is happy to call Ohio home but will always remain a Gopher fan. He enjoys reading, and has taken a keen interest in world history. He also enjoys traveling and documenting his trips through photography.
Dr. Dietel strives to provide the highest quality of dental care and to treat his patients as if they are family. This means not only caring for short term needs but developing long term goals and working to achieve a healthy smile. His innate abilities and unique aptitude are changing lives a smile at a time.
We are sure he is missed in Chaska but feel fortunate to have him here in Ohio at Frankel Dentistry.
Dr. Milad Karim
Dr. Milad Karim grew up moving a lot. He was born in Iraq and raised in Denmark. He eventually moved to Michigan with his family. He attended Wayne State University in the heart of the city of Detroit for his undergraduate education in biochemistry and molecular biology and his master's degree in Medical Sciences. His empathetic nature and unique skill set guided him to a career in dentistry. He is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan Dental School.
Dr. Karim is a very outgoing, driven, and passionate individual. His innate leadership ability was evident in dental school. He served as class president for all 4 years at University of Michigan Dental school! Patients and colleagues admire him not only for working hard and passionately to excel but for helping others to do the same. His patients benefit from his caring nature and ability to listen. He is excited to bring his skills, experience and expertise to the Frankel Dentistry patient family.
When not thinking about dentistry he likes to spend time with family and close friends. He has traveled to over 20 countries, loves to experience different cultures and taste local foods. He enjoys hiking and running and rock climbing in the warmer weather and skiing and drinking hot chocolate in the winter.
Dr. K. Daniel Willis
Dr. K. Daniel Willis is from Newport News, VA, a near-coastal town on the Eastern Seaboard. He found his way to Ohio through his wife, who grew up in the Greater Dayton area, and they were drawn to the Toledo area, leading him to complete his undergraduate degree here in Toledo.
While at the University of Toledo, Dr. Willis chose to focus on anthropology, a social science, rather than a bioscience to better learn about connecting with patients. Anthropology and dentistry connect well because they both revolve around people. Thus, a career as a dentist became a natural fit, and he completed his DDS from The Ohio State University in 2018. He loves how dentistry is artistic and how it helps to improve one's self-confidence with a smile.
Dr. Willis and his family desired to return to the Toledo area because of its Metroparks, history, and its catchphrase "You Will Do Better in Toledo." So, he was thrilled to return here after graduation to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center and subsequently work at Frankel Dentistry.
As a fun fact, Dr. Willis and his wife, Laura, kindled their relationship as young adults by writing letters while she was teaching English in China and he was volunteering in Germany. He and his wife will celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary in 2020 and have an energetic, loving toddler, Nicholas.
Dr. Rebecca Gofman
Dr. Rebecca Gofman grew up in Westport, CT and moved to Ohio to join her husband who recently joined the faculty at BGSU. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development with a focus on Child Health from Tufts University in Medford, MA. Dr. Gofman always had an interest in Pediatric Dentistry and spent a large portion of her time during her undergraduate degree working with children in different capacities. She completed over 900 hours of community service through Jumpstart Americorps, serving as a Corps Member and a Team Leader, bringing literacy and phonetic awareness to underserved preschools in Somerville, MA. She also worked closely with the Pediatric Department at Tufts Dental School to make the pediatric clinics more child friendly. Dr. Gofman graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Honos Civicus Society for Civic Engagement.
Dr. Gofman went on to receive her DMD from University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, CT. During her time at UConn, she continued to participate in local community service events as well as a 10 day dental service trip to Honduras. Although she has always had a passion for working with children, as Dr. Gofman began to gain clinical experience, she soon realized that she loved interacting with her adult patients as well. She made the decision to pursue General Dentistry so that she could treat both adult and pediatric patients. There is nothing she loves more than building a relationship with her patients and helping to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
After dental school, Dr. Gofman went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. During her residency, she gained experience treating routine dental patients, as well as managing dental emergencies and medically complex patients both in the inpatient hospital setting and in the Emergency Room. In addition, Dr. Gofman completed medical rotations in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, and Emergency Medicine. She considers herself to be a lifelong learner and continues to take Dental Continuing Education courses so she can provide the best possible care for her patients. Dr. Gofman is so excited to be bringing her experience to Frankel Dentistry!
In her free time, Dr. Gofman is an avid baker and loves to get adventurous in the kitchen. She and her husband are true foodies and love to travel and try new restaurants. She also loves to be outside and enjoy the nice weather when possible. Dr. Gofman loves dogs, and is likely to stop to pet every dog she sees.
