In addition to your daily oral hygiene routine, you can also care for your teeth in the kitchen. Most people know of the foods you should avoid or consume in moderation like sugary, sticky foods, but here is a list of foods that can improve your dental health as they are good sources of calcium:
  1. Cheese – contains proteins and nutrients to strengthen tooth enamel
  2. Apples – high in fiber and water and the act of chewing helps to produce saliva in your mouth which rinses away bacteria and other food particles.
  3. Yogurt – contain pro-biotics (good bacteria) that are beneficial for your gums
  4. Leafy Greens – full of vitamins, minerals and folic acid which may help treat gum disease
  5. Celery – high in Vitamins A and C and helps to scrap away food particles from your teeth
  6. Carrots – high in fiber and Vitamin A and the act of chewing helps to produce saliva in your mouth which rinses away bacteria and other food particles.
  7. Almonds – high in protein and low in sugar
Beware of sugary drinks like juice and soda and opt for a glass of water instead to stay hydrated!
