Periodontal disease has people running for their toothbrushes and floss!

Blood! It’s Halloween and blood tends to be the topic of some pretty scary stuff. But when it comes to your oral health, no matter what time of year it is, bleeding gums are terrifying.

Half (that is over 62 million) of American adults aged 30 and older suffer from gum disease, and this number is on the rise (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention). Left untreated, periodontal disease can painlessly attack your gums, causing teeth to loosen and potentially fall out. Additionally, this infection can creep into your blood stream causing much more scarier problems including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

As Dr. Frankel likes to say, a healthy mouth promotes a healthy body. Taking care of small oral health problems will keep the for frightful issues at bay. This is easily done by scheduling your dental check-ups every six months, brushing for 2 minutes twice a day, and flossing daily.

Out smart the villain, Gum Disease. Keep your oral health in check and your teeth and body healthy.
